La Mentalización como estrategia para promover la Salud Mental en bebés prematuros

Resumen

En el presente trabajo pretendemos mostrar la importancia de la intervención con madres de bebés prematuros, como estrategia de promoción y prevención en salud mental. Sugerimos que la mentalización puede ser una forma de ayudar a las madres a pensar y a contener la experienci emocional del bebé, y a reconocer la interacción de sus mentes. Primero, nos centramos en la problemática de los bebés prematuros y sus madres en las Unidades de Cuidado Intensivo Neonatal UCIN, porque las condiciones adversas hacen de ellos una población de alto riesgo y vulnerabilidad a nivel de salud mental. Luego mostramos la importancia de los conceptos de vínculo afectivo, apego y mentalización, y sus posibles consecuencias en el desarrollo del niño o niña. Posteriormente presentamos los objetivos y destacamos los principios que deben guiar un programa que busca favorecer el desarrollo de una adecuada capacidad reflexiva o mentalización en madres de bebés prematuros.
