Personality assessment in juvenile delinquency among Peruvian adolescents

Abstract
The study aimed to explore the usefulness of the Jesness Inventory-Revised in differentiating judicialized and non-judicialized adolescents from Arequipa, Peru. The sample included 150 male adolescents aged between 13 and 21 years, distributed into a judicialized group (n = 47) and a non-judicialized group (n = 103). A quantitative comparative design was employed. Inferential analyses included Student’s t-tests and Mann-Whitney U tests, accompanied by effect size measures and false discovery
rate correction to control Type I error. The results showed statistically significant differences in social maladjustment, manifest aggression, conduct disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder, with higher scores observed in the judicialized group. Findings suggest that the Jesness Inventory-Revised may constitute a complementary tool for psychological assessment in juvenile justice contexts.
